J'aime travailler avec un pinceau qui a un corps un peu épais, mais une pointe très fine, car c'est le genre de pinceau qui peut tout peindre dans une aquarelle : de gros aplats et des détails très fins.
J'avais essayé le pinceau pointu de White Nights qui est très bien, mais qui commence, après quelques mois d'utilisation, à avoir une pointe un peu moins ferme.
Récemment, j'ai découvert un pinceau synthétique pointu que je teste depuis quelques semaines et j'adore. On peut vraiment faire des lignes superfines avec et de jolis aplats et qui est un peu nerveux, ce qui me convient parfaitement. J'utilisais déjà le pinceau de voyage de la même marque (Princeton) qui est topissime aussi, mais qui a une point moins fine. Et en plus, ce pinceau pointu n'est pas très cher.
Voici une petite aquarelle directe faite avec ce pinceau en moins de 15 minutes, toujours avec mes nouvelles aquarelles Lukas sur le papier Saunders et Waterford grain fin 100% coton.
Si ce pinceau vous intéresse, il s'appelle Long round velvet touch de Princeton. J'ai utilisé le numéro 8, mais je pense que je vais voir un modèle un chouia plus gros, un numéro 10 par exemple. A suivre...

l like working with a brush that has a slightly thick body but a very fine tip, because that’s the kind of brush that can do everything in watercolor: large areas of color and very fine details.
I’d tried the White Nights pointed brush, which is great, but after a few months of use, the tip starts to lose a bit of its firmness.
Recently, I discovered a synthetic pointed brush that I’ve been testing for a few weeks now, and I love it. You can really create super-fine lines and beautiful flat areas with it, and it’s a bit springy, which suits me perfectly. I was already using the travel brush from the same brand (Princeton), which is also fantastic, but it has a slightly less fine tip. Plus, this pointed brush isn’t very expensive.
Here’s a quick on-site watercolor painting I did with this brush in under 15 minutes, again using my new Lukas watercolors on Saunders & Waterford fine-grain 100% cotton paper.
If you’re interested in this brush, it’s called the Princeton Long Round Velvet Touch. I used size 8, but I think I’ll try a slightly larger size—a size 10, for example. Stay tuned...
